I'm on a lifelong journey with my guitar, picking up the strings since I was 11. I took a little break, but now I'm back, more passionate than ever, and even diving into the art of luthiery soon. As a double major student at Berklee College of Music Online, I'm not just playing; I'm studying the language of music. With about 5 years of session work in Chicago, every strum is a note in my ongoing musical story.

I'm the proud mentor behind the scenes of our family band adventure since 2012. My journey involves teaching and creating harmony in the heart of our musical home. From leading summer singing classes for kids at a Montessori school to gracing the stage on Nickelodeon's 'Americas Most Musical Family' and belting out the national anthem for the Chicago Bulls – every note is a testament to our shared love for music. I'm a dedicated guitarist and composer with 29 years of guitar playing and 20 years of teaching. I teach and play many styles, and my specialty is classical guitar. I earned a Bachelor's degree in guitar performance from Columbia College in 2015, and my passion for music continues to grow.

Starting my teaching journey at the young age of 17 from the comfort of my home, I've remained dedicated to the craft for over three decades. Graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of Evansville and furthering my expertise with a master's degree from Concordia Chicago, my passion for teaching guitar has only deepened over the years. With each lesson, I strive to instill not just musical knowledge, but also a love for the instrument and a drive for continuous improvement in my students.

Michele Thomas is a contemporary jazz vocalist, recording artist, educator and entrepreneur of over 20 years. As an educator she founded and teaches both voice and artist development for her own private teaching studio, Soulstream Music Studio of Contemporary Voice, for over the past 18 years. She has also taught vocal jazz ensemble and applied jazz voice at DePaul University, Vandercook College of Music and has recently joined the Artist faculty at Roosevelt University in Chicago. Her music education stems from a rich Chicago gospel music legacy as well as studying at Sherwood Music Conservatory and receiving her BA in music at North Park University where in her freshman year she became the founding conductor of the college’s first ever gospel choir. Teaching credits include teaching voice and choir at Clarendon Hills Music Academy, Merit School of Music, Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church and the Maywood Fine Arts Association. In addition to multiple workshops on jazz and gospel music both overseas and throughout the U.S, she is a regularly featured clinician for Next Showcase Chicago, founded by previous Grammy Chapter president, Mark Hubbard. And in 2020 she was brought on as a music supervisor and vocal coach for the HBO Max critically acclaimed comedy series, ”Southside". As a performing artist, she has just released her third album named, “The Assumption” that has received critical acclaim. She headlined at the Chicago Jazz Festival in recent years and has performed at many of the city’s legendary jazz clubs including The Jazz Showcase, The Green Mill Andy’s Jazz Club and Winter’s Jazz Club.
