Coach Carl Poe's athletic journey began with a passion for multiple sports, which he pursued from youth through high school. His dedication led him to earn a scholarship to play collegiate baseball at UNC-Pembroke. However, during his senior year, an unfortunate hand injury ended his playing career. Determined to continue his path in sports, Carl shifted focus to academics, earning a degree in Physical Education and Coaching before advancing to graduate school at Appalachian State, where he earned a Master's in Exercise Science with a focus on Sports Strength and Conditioning. This transition from competitive baseball to strength and conditioning allowed Carl to dedicate his career to training athletes. With over 20 years of experience, including time at the US Olympic Training Center, Carl has built a legacy of helping athletes achieve their peak performance to compete at the highest level possible .

I’ve been coaching athletics for over 10 years and currently work for the Town of Cary, where I help build and grow our pickleball programming. I teach beginner and intermediate pickleball classes, sharing my knowledge, enthusiasm, and love for the game. I’m passionate about introducing new players to pickleball and creating a fun, welcoming environment where everyone can improve their skills and enjoy the sport I love.

Hello! I’ve trained in jazz, Hip Hop (multiple styles within), modern, and ballet for 12 years. Dancing has always been easy for me to express myself, and I want to give others that same opportunity. Mental and physical health are crucial aspects I like to integrate into dancing. Since having a little one, I look forward to raising him with a great sense of cultural awareness around different styles of dance and including him in my daily life of teaching and giving examples of what community can bring people.
