Running your first local ad for $15 a day

"I spent $180 on a clinic ad and filled every spot. That is the first time advertising ever made me money." Grant H. coaches pickleball and tennis in San Diego, and before that ad his experience of advertising was boosting an Instagram post, spending fifty dollars, and getting likes. The difference was not budget. It was a specific offer, a radius, and a page that could take a payment.

Promote something with a date on it

Under What you are promoting you can choose your coaching profile, a clinic with open seats, or a course, ebook, or digital product. A clinic makes the best first ad because it has a date, a price, and a seat count, which gives the ad a reason to act now and gives you a result you can read in a week. A profile ad works too, but the numbers take longer to mean anything.

Reach people who can drive to your court

Keep the radius around your teaching location for lessons and clinics. About fifteen miles is a sensible start. A national audience will admire your ad and never book, because they live in Ohio. The exception is a digital product, which sells anywhere, so for a course you can choose states and cities or the whole United States.

Spend enough to learn, and wait the full week

The daily budget runs from five to thirty-five dollars, with fifteen as the recommended starting point. You pay the first week upfront, seven days of your daily budget with a five percent platform fee taken from it, and CoachGrow reviews the ad and switches it on within one business day.

Then leave it alone for the whole week. Meta tests every headline and image combination and shifts spend toward the ones that get clicks, so the first two days look worse than the ad will end up. Judging it on Tuesday is the most common way to kill a campaign that was about to work.

What to change and what to leave

The headlines and text are written from your bio, your packages, and your reviews, and you can pick up to ten images from your profile photos. Swap anything that does not sound like you, but resist rewriting everything. Under Advanced settings, leave Optimize for on Leads when it is offered for lessons and clinics. A lead is someone who messages you from your site, and it lands in your Leads inbox with a text alert. From that point the ad is only as good as your reply time.

Read the result in students

Open the ad under Your ads. Performance shows spend, clicks, new students, and cost per student. What is winning shows which headline and image took the spend. Reply time shows how quickly you answered the leads it sent.

Work out what a new student is worth to you over a year, including the package they buy in month three. If the cost per student is well under that, run the ad again. If it is not, Run again rebuilds the setup so you can drop the losing version and relaunch without starting from scratch.

Questions

Common questions

Do I need a Facebook business account?+−

No. Ads run from the teachmelessons account until you connect your own Instagram, which takes one approval inside the Instagram app and no login.

Can I pause it?+−

Yes. Pause holds the ad and Resume restarts it, and Cancel stops it for good. The daily budget stays locked for the paid week either way.

What if Meta rejects the ad?+−

The ad page tells you what to fix. Adjust the text or the image and it goes back into review.
